Writing To Resonate (newsletter)
What makes a person click on a post?
How do you get people to care about what you have to say?
Why do fish breathe in the water? (no clue).
But I do know the answer to the first two questions.
And they only have 1.
Hook.
It’s what reels in the fish.
This is why people should continue to read or watch your post.
So here’s 3 ways to craft a well-written hook:
Make it vague.
Don’t give too much information about what you’re going to say during the post. If you were given 2 options and the first one said “Change your tire with a screwdriver and a bolt wrench to do it in less time!” or “Use this hack to 2x your tire changing speed”, which one would you click?
Probably the 2nd one. It’s more vague but tells you enough about the content to where you’ll probably still click.
State a relatable problem.
This is where you have to think. Think about all of the problems that might be affecting your target audience, then use it in the hook.
Is your audience lacking time?
You could say “How to get your time back”.
Is your audience struggling on writing hooks?
Maybe you could say “How to make a person click on every post”.
(Yes, I use this strategy too. That’s why I’m teaching it.)
Figure out 1 of their problems and use it in the hook.
Make it entertaining.
Make your hook entertaining. Not like Mrbeast entertaining. You don’t have to scream or PUT YOUR WORDS IN ALL CAPS.
But you do have to make it interesting. So how do we do that?
You can start with a story.
I made this X post a little while ago that started with a story from when I was 12. (8 years ago. Some people thought I was actually 12.)
People found it interesting that I was starting my first every YouTube channel.

Or, you can start with a contradictory statement of some kind.
Like “making money is easy.” People don’t usually think of making money as easy, so that could be an entertaining way to get your point across.
I hope these points helped you!
